Jonathan Gatera has been named the new director-general of Rwanda Social Security Board, replacing Dr Daniel Ufitikirezi, who has been at the body’s helm since February last year. Gatera was until yesterday the director-general in charge of Financial Stability at the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR). He was appointed during Wednesday’s cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame. The same meeting nominated Dr Louis Butare as the new director-general of Rwanda Agricultural Board (RAB), replacing Prof. Jean-Jacques Mbonigaba Muhinda, according to a statement signed by Stella Ford Mugabo, the minister for Cabinet affairs. The meeting also fronted Dr Jean-Baptiste Habyarimana as the new Rwandan ambassador to the Republic of Congo, replacing Amandin Rugira, who was reposted to Bujumbura, Burundi. Claudine Uwera was appointed the executive secretary of the National Children’s Council, replacing Zaina Nyiramatama. The nominations are subject to Senate’s approval. Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting approved privatization of several hydro-power projects to different local and foreign investors.
